From a Gold Crayon to Divine Inspiration
My story
From a young age, I discovered that art could be my refuge and my voice—a way to express my faith and the healing grace of God. My journey began with a simple gold crayon in third grade when, amid a storm’s darkness, I found comfort in drawing a cross. That small act of creativity was the seed of a lifelong devotion to transforming Scripture and my life experiences into art that uplifts and comforts believers.
A Journey of Faith and Art
Throughout my life, challenges have become opportunities to lean into God's love. Whether facing personal losses, grappling with anxiety and depression, or enduring the physical hardships of breast cancer, I have turned to art as a source of solace and strength. Every brushstroke and calligraphic flourish is a testament to the divine inspiration that guides me. My work is a blend of watercolor, ink, and digital techniques, used to create hand-lettered Scripture art, spiritual watercolor abstracts, devotional illustrations, and symbolic patterns that speak to the heart of the Believer.
From a Gold Crayon to Divine Inspiration
My artistic journey is deeply rooted in those early moments of faith—a gold crayon drawing that symbolized God's protection. Over the years, my practice has evolved into a rich tapestry of creative expressions dedicated to sharing the message of God's grace, love, and peace. I believe that art not only beautifies the world but also becomes a beacon of hope, offering comfort to those in need and inspiring others to find solace in God's everlasting presence.

Greetings!
In Mrs. Greenspoon’s third grade class one late spring afternoon, a hailstorm knocked out the power to our school. With our classroom lit only by the darkened, stormy sky, we were told to make art while we waited for it to pass. Blank sheets of construction paper and large boxes of crayons were passed out to each table of six. My fear of thunder and lightning led me to know exactly what to make. While everyone else fought over all the bright colors, I picked out the gold crayon from the box and quietly drew a cross—a cross for God’s protection.
It was the first of many fearful times that I would turn to God in creative ways to find peace in the Great Comforter. From the abandonment of my father at the age of seven to the loss of my 12-year old brother to suicide when I was 18, and from my struggles as an adult with anxiety, PTSD, and depression to facing several life-threatening medical issues, including breast cancer, making art from God’s Word became His gift of grace to me. With every stroke of paint, with every line of ink, I felt and continue to feel His calming presence.
Over all these years, I have come to develop a creative devotional practice that sustains me. Understanding or empathizing with those who are facing the difficult times of life, I am blessed to create art and books not only for myself and God, but for other Believers as well. Through this practice, I hope to bring God’s joy and comfort to people who desperately need Him.
